About the Space Coast Monthly Chess Tournament Series (excluding the Space Coast Open):

This a series that features a chess tournament approximately once a month and one-day event.

Onsite registration at 10:00 AM and the First Round starts at 10:15 AM. Advance online registration at links above highly recommended! Lunch 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.

Scholastic (K-12 students):

  • US Chess dual-rated (count for both regular rating and quick chess rating).

  • Time control is Game in 30 minutes with a 5 second delay per move.

  • 5 rounds Swiss System (5SS) and rounds starting time are 10:15AM, 12:30PM, 1:45PM, 3:00PM, 4:15 PM.

  • Sections: (sections may be combined if a section has less than 6 players)

  • Prizes: Trophies to winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd) with best school team trophy and rest receive participation medal.

  • Entry Fee: $25 if received by the Wednesday prior to the tournament. If received later, $5 more. If you enter on-site, you must be on the registration line by 10:00am or you may get a ½-point bye for round 1.

Non-Scholastic (Open Tournament):

  • US Chess regular rated.

  • Time control is Game in 40 minutes with a 10 second increment per move.

  • 4 rounds Swiss System (4SS) and rounds starting time are 10:15AM, 12:30PM, 2:15PM, 4:00PM

  • Sections: (sections may be combined if a section has less than 5 players)

OPEN Section (minimum rating of 1600 required)

Under 1600 Section (open to under 1600 and unrated)

  • Prizes: $1,000 prize fund based on 40 entries. 50% guaranteed.

Open Section: 1st Place - $300,  2nd Place - $150, Under 1900 - $150

Under 1600 Section: 1st Place - $200,  2nd Place - $100, Under 1200 - $100

  • Entry Fee: $40 if received by the Wednesday prior to the tournament. If received later, $10 more. If you enter on-site, you must be on the registration line by 10:00am or you may get a ½-point bye for round 1.

REFUNDS:

All refunds are subject to a $5 service charge. Refunds for withdrawals must be requested before the first round is paired.

No food or drink is permitted in the playing hall, except water or other beverages provided they are in tightly closed containers.

Food is permitted in the skittles room, but you must clear all trash when done.

Please Do Not Crowd around any posted pairings, standings, or other posted notices, or in areas used by our event.

US Chess (USCF) membership is required. If the USCF website does not show you as a current member you will not be paired. If joining USCF include the membership payment with your registration.

Chess sets provided, requesting players to bring their chess clock if you have one, as we have limited number available.
