Scholastic Chess Returning to Brevard County

With the permanent closure of our Scholastics chess partner, the Space Coast Scholastic Chess Club, due to COVID-19, there has been no organized Scholastics chess in Brevard County for the past two years.

The Space Coast Chess Foundation is stepping in to fill the void.

As a first step we are planning a shortened scholastics chess tournament series for the remainder of 2021-2022 school year. There will be 4 events in the monthly series, starting in January 2022.

The events will be held on-line on the fantastic chess.com platform. The events will be open to any scholastics chess player, however only Brevard based students will be recognized in county standings.

The events will be completely free. Modest prizes will be provided to top finishers in the county standings as well as recognition as Brevard County Champions based on grade level.

We invite all scholastics players to join this first season of on-line play.
